Hungry families on food stamps in Idaho
Last night's Rock Center with Brian Williams featured an eye-opening story about two young families in Idaho who rely on food stamps to make ends meet. In one case, both parents are working. In the other, one parent holds a part-time job making $8.50 per hour.
With Idaho's unemployment rate at 9.1 percent and the cost of living steadily increasing, it's easy to understand why so many families are seeking government assistance. Food stamp participation in the state has increased by 15 percent in the last two years.
