Recipe: Sharp Cheddar & Cream Cheese Dip

 Posted by Nate Rafn

This tasty "cheese-ball" dip is based on one of my mother's recipes. It's a great addition to your next picnic or house party.

The recipe is very versatile. You can substitute the sharp cheddar cheese with medium cheddar, or even pepper-jack. If you have fresh herbs in the garden, I'd recommend adding some. Try using fresh dill, basil, and/or marjoram.

Sharp Cheddar & Cream Cheese Dip - serves 6-8

I recommend serving this dip with a sturdy cracker that can hold-up to the thickness of the cream cheese. We prefer Wheat Thins.

16 ounces cream cheese, softened (Organic Valley is our preferred brand)
1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. scallion, finely chopped
dash of garlic powder
dash of black pepper
1 cup walnuts, chopped and lightly roasted
1 box crackers

Mix all ingredients (using your hands if necessary). Form into a ball, and roll in chopped nuts. Press ball into a serving bowl. Serve with crackers and an assortment of crisp vegetables. Enjoy.

  1. Oh no, I'd have to make this for a party, because if I made it for a normal night at home I might eat the whole ball myself!
