Capital City Coop & Garden Tour scheduled for June 19th
This event is Salem's first coop tour. Now that chickens are good-and-legal within Salem city limits, Friends of Salem Saturday Market and Chickens In The Yard are organizing the tour to expose area residents to some of Salem's most attractive chicken coops and gardens.
The event is on Sunday, June 19th from 11am to 4pm, and will feature more than a dozen chicken coops, plus greenhouses, composters, and a backyard beekeeping set-up.
The tour is ideal for those who are interested in gardening, self-reliance, and raising chickens at home. It's an opportunity to talk with participating homeowners about their successes and failures in these areas.
Tour tickets are available for $7 at the Friends of Salem Saturday Market booth after May 12th. Tickets are also being sold at several Mid-Valley locations, including 13th Street Nursery, Old Mill Feed & Garden, Copper Creek Mercantile, Pets Etc., and Champion Feed.
Visit Friends of Salem Saturday Market for more information about the coop tour.
