Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs give consumers an opportunity to purchase local, seasonal foods directly from growers. At the beginning of each growing season, farmers offer CSA membership to the public. When customers sign up, they receive a box of fresh produce each week. Cost varies between $400 and $800 for a 22-week growing season. Payment is often in advance. Some CSA programs deliver directly to customers, others to a central drop-off location.
