The opening of the shortcake stand at E.Z. Orchards Farm Market seems to signify the official start of summer. June brings strawberries and raspberries, followed by blueberries in July, and peaches in August.
Be sure to visit the E.Z. Orchards shortcake stand this summer, where you'll enjoy a delicious treat and support your local growers all at the same time. It doesn't get much better than that!
(The following information furnished by E.Z. Orchards.)
LOCAL STRAWBERRIES
Believe it or not, we have Local Strawberries available. Delicious, big, and red all the way through, Oregon Strawberries are worth the wait. This spring has been challenging for farmers here in the Willamette Valley. In a good "normal" year we start to receive local strawberries from farmers around May 20th. The cold wet weather this year has delayed the crop significantly. Most fruits and vegetables will be 10 to 20 days later than normal.
We anticipate having a steady supply until the end of the season.
SHORTCAKE STAND
The E.Z. Orchards Shortcake Stand is now open for the summer season. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Shortcake Stand, here are a few of the highlights. The Shortcake Stand is in the beautiful park-like setting of our Lavender garden. We recently replanted the grass, and it is very lush and green. Just walk right up to the window and place your order for seasonal Strawberry Shortcakes, Sundaes, Milkshakes, Smoothies, Soy Milk Smoothies, Espresso Coffee Drinks, Ice Cream Cones, and Strawberry or Lemonade Slushies. We use Cascade Glacier Ice Cream from Eugene for all of the treats that we serve. We also have a new whipped cream machine, so the whipped cream is fresh, tasty, home-made. The Shortcake Stand operates the same hours as the Farm Market; Monday through Friday 9-6, and Saturday 9-5, closed Sunday.
