Minto Island Growers offers class on tea cultivation

Minto Island Growers is hosting a class about tea on Saturday, September 17th. Topics of discussion at this event include cultivating, drinking, and processing tea at home. The class also includes light dishes featuring tea, and tea tasting. Attendees will take home several varieties from Minto Island Growers' camelia sinensis plot. Tea expert, Balazs Hengar, will lead the class.

Minto Island Growers food-cart moves to Independence for 4th of July

The 4th of July celebration in Independence, Oregon, will have a new attraction this year.

The highly-anticipated Mecanico restaurant is opening this weekend, along with a new food-cart area near Riverview Park. Mecanico will serve local micro-brews, wine, and sodas, while the food-cart section will be home to a handful of vendors, including Minto Island Growers' "Farm Food" and Wild Pineapple's teriyaki and Hawaiian-style barbecue.

Festivities this weekend will kick-off at Riverview Park on July 1st with carnival and vendor booths, live music, games, and fireworks.

Minto Island Growers' farm-stand opens on May 4th


 The farm-stand at Minto Island Growers is beginning its first full year of operation. Starting Wednesday, May 4th, the farm-stand will open its doors to the public, offering seedlings and spring vegetables.
